Ameridan was founded in August 1998 by James J. Mulick, Ph.D.
The concept for Ameridan was spawned by Dr. Mulick's experience as a corporate development professional and later as a M&A advisor at a regional investment bank. Having sat on both sides of the negotiating table, and working with a broad range of companies and private equity groups, he came to conclude that:
- Although owners of privately-held companies need professional assistance to initiate, structure and complete a successful business sale, many are understandably hesitant to involve either a business broker or a large investment banking firm in the process. What these owners really want is a committed, seasoned M&A professional who:
- knows the industry players;
- understands how public companies and private equity groups make acquisition decisions; and
- can confidentially effect a targeted, value-maximizing business sale.
- Private equity groups, as well as many strategic acquirers, are simply not in a position to do the sort of fast turnaround, but rigorous strategic and competitive due-diligence that a major business acquisition requires. These firms need the assistance of a experienced professional who can quickly assemble and lead a customized team of industry veterans and functional experts.
- Although M&A can be an extremely powerful strategic tool, many companies lack a structured, informed and disciplined approach to corporate development. These companies often require assistance in improving their in-house M&A capabilities.
Since its founding in 1998, Ameridan has focused on serving clients in these and other situations, providing specialized corporate advisory services to companies and private equity firms across North America.
